Google Latitude

Hello friends Google  launch new service  Google Latitude Google Latitude is a location-aware mobile app developed by Google. Latitude allows a mobile phone user to allow certain people to view their current location. Via their own Google Account, the user's cell phone location is mapped on Google Maps. The user can control the accuracy and details of what each of the other users can see an exact location can be allowed, or it can be limited to identifying the city only. For privacy, it can also be turned off by the user, or a location can be manually entered. Users have to explicitly opt in to Latitude, and may only see the location of those friends who have decided to share their location with them.

Google's 2005 acquisition, Dodgeball, offered similar facility to users by way of SMS. With Google Latitude, the service has expanded to PC browsers (it uses the Geolocation API as well as user-driven input) and automated location detection on mobile phones using Cellular positioning, Wi-Fi Positioning, and GPS.

Google Docs

Simpler file upload in Google Docs

Starting today, Rapid Release users now have access to these handy new features in Google Docs: folder upload, documents list integration, and drag-and-drop upload.Folder upload is now accessible via the new Upload menu in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari. We’ve also merged the upload page’s functionality into the documents list to create a much better upload experience. When you upload files via the new drop-down menu, a window will pop up in the bottom right of your documents list and show upload progress. Lastly, if you are using Chrome, Safari and Firefox on your Mac or PC, you’ll also be able to drag-and-drop one or more files directly into your documents list to initiate an upload.

Google Zeitgeist 2010

Hello friends Zeitgeist means “spirit of the times” which is why Google aptly named one of its online services Zeitgeist since it keeps track of the millions of search queries Google receives. The information contained within Google Zeitgeist is a nice reminder of what has happened over the past year and how those events have shaped the habits of online users to find more information about them. Some of the top global events queried on Google in 2010 include the World Cup hosted in South Africa, the Winter Olympics in Canada, the Haiti earthquake, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the ash cloud originating in Iceland which affected global travel.Some of the fastest rising queries in 2010 also says something about what peaked our interest online this year. The top five queries included chatroulette, ipad, Justin Bieber, nicki minaj and friv followed by myxer, katy perry, twitter, gamezer, and facebook. Regionally, the fastest rising queries in the U.S. wasn’t much different than the global list. One difference is the inclusion of “glee” in the top 10 list which a testament to how the hit television show as become ingrained in the American culture.

As a result of the latest Google Zeitgeist information, a new YouTube upload offers a summary of the queries and events of 2010 through a collage of search results, images and video. It’s a nice wrap-up of the year through the eyes of Google as we say farewill to 2010 and come one year closer to the predicted 2012 apocalypse that will no doubt be capped off by Justin Bieber topping the global fastest rising queries list in 2011.
